Over the past 15 years, the youth camp ministry has become an increasing focus for First Baptist. In the mid 1990’s, five high school members attended L-Bar-C camp in northeastern Kansas. In 2007, there were 72 middle and high school youth in attendance, only 26 of whom were church members. This is due in large part to a successful Wednesday night youth ministry program.

In 2013, the youth (grades 6 – 12)  began attending a new camp, Falls Creek Baptist Church Camp near Davis, Oklahoma. Falls Creek is similar to the YouthFront Camps we have been attending in many ways, including mission opportunities, corporate worship, and many fun and exciting spiritual and recreational experiences. The organization of our new camp is a bit different though. It allows all our youth to attend together and stay together in a cabin we rent for the week but also have separate high school activities and middle school activities. With Falls Creek’s materials we will study the Word and grow in our personal relationship with Christ through the worship services in the morning and evening. So while part of the activities are run by Falls Creek staff, another part is coordinated by our own Camp Leadership team with members of our own church who have volunteered their time to work with the kids for that week.

Along with the exciting new opportunities for our youth, attending this camp brings about other ministry opportunities for those that won’t be attending the camp (i.e. Cooking Team, Prayer Partners, etc.). For more information about the camp experience next year, visit www.fallscreekok.org or contact the church office.
